Day 1

Phuentsholing

Arrive Bagdogra â€“ Phuentsholing Arrive at Bagdogra airport and drive through northern Indian tea plantation to transfer to Phuentsholing. Process for route permit, later check in to the hotel and you have the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Pheuntsholing.

Day 2

Thimphu

Phuentsholing - Thimphu This morning after breakfast, transfer to the capital city of Thimphu through the mountains. This journey is of almost unbelievable beauty. The road leads from the northern Indian tea plantations through endless turns. Check in to the hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 3

Thimphu

Thimphu - City tour Today morning after breakfast visit the Immigration Office to extend your permit to go towards Punakha. Proceed for Thimphu city tour. Visit Jungshi Handmade Paper Factor, Folk Heritage Museum, Memorial Chorten & Changangkha Lhakhang. Later return back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 4

Punakha

Thimphu - Punakha - City tour This morning after breakfast, drive toward Punakha, stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where on a sunny day, you can get stunning views of the Himalayan ranges. The Dochu La Pass is probably the best known mountain pass in Bhutan. Located at an altitude of 3150 meter above sea level, the Dochu La Pass is about 30 kilometer away from the capital city Thimphu and the road to Punakha. On a clear day the pass offers visitors a spectacular view of the majestic eastern Himalayan Ranges. On the way visit, 108 Druk Wangyal Khangzang Chortens that were built for the well-being of all sentiment beings on earth. Arrive Punakha and check in to the hotel. Afternoon visit the majestic Punakha Dzong placed strategically at the junction of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers, the dzong was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative seat of the region. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Punakha.

Day 5

Paro

Punakha â€“Paro â€“ City tour Today morning drive to Paro via the same road. On the way visit Tamchog Lhakhang, this temple is dedicated to the 13th century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder. Visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), the name Ta Dzong translates to â€˜watch towerâ€™ and it served the function of watch tower for the Paro Rinpung Dzong. Back in the day, similar look-out points were built for other dzongs (fortresses) to counter any approaching hostilities, for those were the days of frequent strife. These towers were specifically built high atop hills and other vantage points during the old days. Presently serving as the national museum. It has household objects typical to the Bhutanese peopleâ€™s way of life back then and even now, and other natural and historical artifacts. Later check in to the hotel and rest of the evening is at leisure. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 6

Paro

Paro - Tigerâ€™s Nest Hike This morning after breakfast drive up to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tigerâ€™s Nest). The most famous and sacred site among all the places in Bhutan. Guru Padmasambhava is said to have come riding on a flying tigress to this place and meditated in a cave for 3 months. The present structure is said to be built in the 15th century but was destroyed by fire in 1998 and has been restored. The walk is about 2 hours till the top through wide pathways which were built during the restoration works. One hour into the climb there is a tea point from where you get a very good view of the monastery. From there itâ€™s about another 45 minutes to climb to the 2nd viewpoint and the highest point in the hike. After the trek, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, which is considered the oldest temple along with Jampa and Kenchosum Lhakhang in Bumthang; it dates back to the 7th century. Return back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 7

Phuentsholing

Paro â€“ Phuentsholing Today morning after breakfast, transfer to Phuentsholing. On arrival check in to the hotel and evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Pheuntsholing.
